Hello fellow Burgundy lover,

Though we share a similar passion, our love for the great wines of Burgundy, it is quite possible that we have never met. Please allow me a moment of your time to invite you to join our newly formed Houston chapter of Les Amis de Bourgogne.

As the name suggests, we are the friends of Burgundy. A small group of very serious, yet grounded, individuals who share, among other aspects, a true passion for the wines of Burgundy's Cote D'Or. I am the chapter's founder, Christopher Massie and I am the owner of Christopher's Fine Wines on West Gray in River Oaks, and also in West University with a Tanglewood store soon to open.

Our group is a casual one, there are no dues, no mandatory events to attend. We only ask our fellow Burgundy drinkers to attend our gatherings with enough frequency so as to keep abreast of changing vintages and the ever-changing scope of Burgundy. As the fathers pass the torch to their sons and daughters, we hope you will be there to taste the results.

A word about our selections. As I am a merchant of fine Burgundy, our group is focused on estates where I have the ability to control the products I purchase. Why? I have over twenty years of experience with Burgundy. I am one of less than one hundred Americans to successfully complete the course of study in Burgundy offered at the L'Ambassade du Vin in Beaune. I have visited the vineyards of Burgundy dozens of times since 1989 and I have spent that time analyzing the wines and getting to know the wine makers. In short, the small properties I import and retail are highly regarded, nationally respected and very difficult to acquire. And while we respect the work done at top negociants, we do not strive to import those companies. Just have a look at the short list below for an idea of what we're about.

SOME OF OUR ESTATES (this is not an exhaustive list, it is but a snapshot):

Domaine de la Romanee Conti
Domaine Leflaive
Leroy
Comtes Lafon
Dujac
Michel & Frederic Magnien
Hudelot-Noellat
Pousse D'Or
Dominique Mugneret
Raphet
Rapet
Billard Gonet
Verget
Boyer Martenot

Through my relationships with the greatest importers in the U.S., I am able to visit with many properties and select specific barrels to be bottled to the exacting standards that certain importers mandate. That practice was in part why Robert Parker called our import group "the most revolutionary new breed importer in the world!" One taste of what we do and you'll fall even further in love with great Burgundy!

To be included in future invitations and offers, please see our contact section. As we communicate primarily through email, please supply us with your information. And please remember to tell us that you are interested in information pertinent to Les Amis de Bourgogne.
